Jan 25th 2013 - Official meeting of the Carthage Pinterest Club.

Project - To learn to crochet and/or knit a mug koozie.

Food - We each picked a recipe found on Pinterest to make.  We brought recipe cards to share with each other.  Everything was really good.  It made for a nice dinner.

Amber - Chicken Taco Salad http://pinterest.com/pin/35606653275982447/
Holly - Tres Leches Cupcakes http://pinterest.com/pin/35606653275975358/

Getting down to it.  I connected my computer to my TV for our viewing pleasure and we watch a couple of YouTube tutorials (found on Pinterest)  Jed's knitting needles were far to small for anyone to see what they were doing.  He was able to cast on but the yarn was too think in comparison to the needles for him to move on to the next step.  I had knitted before so i was able to knit a few lines.  Holly had never knitted before but she was able to cast on and run a few lines.  Once we had decided to move on to crocheting things really picked up.  Holly showed me how to start a project, and from there I fell in love.  I now have 4 crocheting needles and made my first scarf a week ago.  I am now obsessed and going to start a blanket in a couple of weeks.  Holly finished her crocheted mug koozie so she was the only one to actually accomplish the club project.  All in all we had a lot of fun trying to help each other figure it out and three heads were defiantly better than one.  Just for a laugh,
I will tell you that we all bought grey yarn.  What does that say about us?

Project success rate.  One out of three.  Holly was the only one to successfully complete the designated project.  I think we did each take something from it, and made it our own.  Expect to see photos of our next craft in Feb.  I have a reason to try out my fancy new camera!

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for our next blog sometime after Feb 25!
